Someone just walked into the KFC Jansen Park, bought an ice cream cone, and donated R2 000 to the Add Hope foundation.
Doug Smart, the CEO of KFC Africa tweeted the picture yesterday explaining that the customer had walked in, bought an ice cream and donated the R2 000 to the Add Hope foundation. And the donation would go far to help feed South African kids in need.
Since it’s inception Add Hope has raised over R400 million and has grown to help feed over 120 000 children daily in South Africa.
What started as a simple thought to partner with their customers to tackle hunger, has become something extraordinary.
Add Hope has grown to support sustainable feeding programmes across South Africa, partnering with 137 organisations to provide 120 000 children with nutritious meals everyday.
“A simple R2 donation from our customers, combined with KFC contributions, all add up! Together, we’ve raised over R400 million since 2009, enabling children all over South Africa to learn, grow and thrive.”
Add Hope has taken a partnership approach to ensure that every R2 donation reaches children in the most effective way, supporting sustainable feeding programmes at a growing list of 138 beneficiary organisations. They currently work with 12 larger, national beneficiaries, including JAM, Afrika Tikkun and SOS Children’s Villages, as well as over 125 smaller organisations that are chosen by their franchisees so that they can have a real impact in their local communities.
“This way, you can be sure that Add Hope funds are reaching communities near you.”
But, the truth is, there is still a long way to go. More than half of all South Africans live in poverty, with one in five children suffering from stunted growth and learning difficulties due to hunger and malnutrition. So, the situation remains critical.
“The more we can raise together, the more children we can help, making a more positive future for all of us. Thank you for Adding Hope!”
